As the last day of school draws near, anxiety sets in about the next few months. What will we do? How will I keep her from getting into trouble? How can we be together 24/7 until September?
First, get in the right mindset.
Next, create your tribe.
Do your best to plan ahead and communicate the schedule to your kiddo. Unexpected plans and changes can be hard for them to adapt to. Add structure to your days, even if it’s a routine about when we get up, eat breakfast, get dressed, etc. Predictability is your friend! If there was ever a time to put mindfulness into practice, it’s now. And, remember, the summer ends. If it helps you, keep a private countdown on your calendar. And take it one day at a time.
